Mixing Colors to Create Brown
Making brown out of primary colors is quite simple. You'll need two of the three primary colors - red, blue and yellow - to make it. Combining the two primary colors you have chosen will create the secondary color brown. Depending on the shade of brown you want to make, you will need to choose the right combination of the two primary colors.
Making Light Brown
To make light brown, mix yellow and red together in equal portions. This will create an orange hue that is lighter than the color you are trying to achieve. To make it lighter still, add more yellow to the mixture. If you add too much yellow, you will get a mustard yellow color.
Making Dark Brown
To make dark brown, mix red and blue together in equal portions. This will create a dark shade of purple. To make it darker still, add more blue to the mixture. Again, be careful not to add too much blue, as this will make the color too dark.
Making Reddish Brown
To make reddish brown, mix red and yellow together in equal portions. This will create an orange hue that is brighter than the color you are trying to achieve. To make it redder still, add more red to the mixture. If you add too much red, you will get a bright red color.
Making Brown with Additional Colors
You can also make brown by combining three or more colors. For example, you can make brown by combining red, yellow and blue together. This will create a brown hue with a slight tinge of purple. You can also make brown by combining orange, black and white together. This will create a more muted brown color.
